TOI-1634 b: An Ultra-short-period Keystone Planet Sitting inside the M-dwarf Radius Valley

چکیده
Studies of close-in planets orbiting M dwarfs have suggested that the dwarf radius valley may be well-explained by distinct formation timescales between enveloped terrestrials, and rocky form at late times in a gas-depleted environment. This scenario is odds with picture primordial gaseous envelope subsequently stripped away some thermally-driven mass loss process. These two physical scenarios make unique predictions rocky/enveloped transition's dependence on orbital separation such studying compositions within able to establish dominant physics. Here, we present discovery one keystone planet: ultra-short period planet TOI-1634 b ($P=0.989$ days, $F=121 F_{\oplus}$, $r_p = 1.790^{+0.080}_{-0.081} R_{\oplus}$) nearby M2 ($K_s=8.7$, $R_s=0.45 R_{\odot}$, $M_s=0.50 M_{\odot}$) whose size sit valley. We confirm TESS-discovered candidate using extensive ground-based follow-up campaigns, including set 32 precise radial velocity measurements from HARPS-N. measure planetary $4.91^{+0.68}_{-0.70} M_{\oplus}$, which makes inconsistent an Earth-like composition $5.9\sigma$ thus requires either extended envelope, large volatile-rich layer, or portion not dominated iron silicates explain its radius. The bulk Earth favors mechanism emergence around $M_s\lesssim 0.5 M_{\odot}$.

High - precision photometry by telescope defocussing . VII . The ultra - short period planet WASP - 103 ⋆
We present 17 transit light curves of the ultra-short period planetary system WASP-103, a strong candidate for the detection of tidally-induced orbital decay. We use these to establish a high-precision reference epoch for transit timing studies. The time of the reference transit midpoint is now measured to an accuracy of 4.8 s, versus 67.4 s in the discovery paper, aiding future searches for or...
متن کاملThe M Dwarf GJ 436 and its Neptune - Mass Planet
We determine stellar parameters for the M dwarf GJ 436 that hosts a Neptunemass planet. We employ primarily spectral modeling at low and high resolution, examining the agreement between model and observed optical spectra of five comparison stars of type, M0-M3. Modeling high resolution optical spectra suffers from uncertainties in TiO transitions, affecting the predicted strengths of both atomi...
متن کاملNlte Analysis of the Ultra-short Period White-dwarf Binary Rx J0806.3+1527
RX J0806.3+1527 is suspected to be a double-degenerate white dwarf binary. We present first results of our NLTE analysis of its optical spectrum. The VLT/FORS1 data show a composite spectrum consisting of a blue continuum and superimposed emission lines of the He ii Pickering series and, possibly, the H Balmer series. Our models are based on hot white dwarf atmospheres and include illumination ...
متن کاملThe closest extrasolar planet A giant planet around the M 4 dwarf Gl 876 ? , ? ?
Precise radial velocity observations of the nearby M4 dwarf Gl 876 with the Observatoire de Haute Provence 1.93 m telescope and the new 1.20 m swiss telescope at la Silla indicate the presence of a jovian mass companion to this star. The orbital fit to the data gives a period of 60.8 days, a velocity amplitude of 246m.s−1 and an eccentricity of 0.34. Assuming that Gl 876 has a mass of 0.3 M , t...
متن کاملMetallicities of M Dwarf Planet Hosts from Spectral Synthesis
We present the first spectroscopic metallicities of three M dwarfs with known or candidate planetary mass companions. We have analyzed high resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra of these stars which we obtained at McDonald Observatory. Our analysis technique is based on spectral synthesis of atomic and molecular features using recently revised cool-star model atmospheres and spectrum synthes...
